The cards in this section are designed to help players keep track of
their life totals. A variety of mechanisms are employed, including a built-in wheel, different cards for different
life totals, and spots on which to place counters. People also use stones or dice to keep track of life. I've even
seen people using a Palm computer to do this seemingly simple task. Of course, if you're a real cheapskate (like
me), just paper and pencil is sufficient for tracking your life total!
The Duelist Life Counters were distributed in a series of Duelist magazines
from issues 29 through 31. To use them, move a counter (glass bead, M&M, penny, or other appropriate object) along
the numbers.

Spin counters have little wheels built into the card that you turn
with your thumb. A window shows your current life total. Spin counters have been available from a variety of
sources, including magazines (Scrye), game shops, and direct retail.

Life counter cards are kept as a little deck, with the numbers in the deck adding up
to your current life total. As you lose or gain life, you reconstitute the deck appropriately. This seems to be a
particularly popular way to track your life in Japan. |
